Castillo Herberstein

Castle Herberstein (Buchberg 1, St. Johann bei Herberstein) – located 90 minutes west of Vienna, this castle, built during three epochs – Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque – tells an interesting story of more than 700 years of Styrian history and aristocratic family tradition. Thanks to the enclosed wildlife park the castle developed into a major tourist attraction. An additional highlight is the new historic garden, today a garden of temperaments with a green, white, yellow and blue garden complemented with a morning, noon, afternoon and evening garden. There are two museums on-site: The museum with sculptures of Bruno Gironcoli, one of Austria’s most famous artists of the present as well as the “Kunsthaus” (art house) in which international artists are represented.  There is also a petting zoo (for younger children) .

Admission: €14.50 (adult), €12.50 (seniors/students), €7.50 (children 4-15), free for children under 4 years. Hours vary. See its website for an updated schedule: https://herberstein.co.at
