Mozart’s Birthplace

Lugar de nacimiento de Mozart

Mozart’s Birthplace (Gereidegasse 9, Salzburg) – located about 3 hours (300 km) west of Vienna (via route A1), this historic building is the birthplace of the great Austrian composer (born there on January 27, 1756). Upon entry, visitors feel as if they had been transferred into another era:  uneven staircases, low ceilings and original furniture heighten the sense that one is in the same environment that fostered a musical genius. On display are not only the original instruments Mozart used to play in his early days in Salzburg, but three additional exhibitions: “A Day in the Life of a Child Prodigy,” “Mozart at the Theater“, and “The Mozarts – a Family Introduces Itself” showcase his upbringing and early life.

Admission: €10 (adult), € 8.50 (seniors/students); €3.50 children (6-14 years); free for children under 6. Hours: 9 am – 5:30 pm daily (until 8 pm in July & August). See the following website for more info: www.mozarteum.at
